Summer on Florida’s Gulf Coast is in full swing! Tourism numbers are ramping up as well. More tourists visited Florida in the last quarter of 2021 than in the last quarter of 2019.

Keep reading and add these upcoming events to your summer plans for a vacation you’ll never forget.

Independence Day Fireworks

Is there anything more dreamy than a fireworks display over the water? Join us on July 3rd for our annual Independence Day fireworks celebration!

The fireworks launch from a barge in the Intracoastal Waterway. Grab your viewing spot at the Madeira Beach Recreation Center fields. Alternatively, you can watch the fireworks from the American Legion or the Courtyard by Marriot hotel.

The fireworks begin at dark, which is about 9:15 pm. Please note that parking is free at the Recreation Center. Other venues may have fees for parking and entry.

If one night of fireworks isn’t enough, don’t worry! StarLite Cruises is offering a spectacular dinner cruise on July 4th. Your ticket includes a buffet dinner, live music, and more fireworks! Book now before the tickets are gone!

Parrots of the Caribbean Returns to John’s Pass

An iconic fixture of Madeira Beach has returned and is back in business. After a long hiatus in the Cayman Islands, Captain John Buck brought his amphibious vehicle, Parrots of the Caribbean, back to John’s Pass.

This one-of-a-kind tour starts on land in John’s Pass and travels to St. Pete’s Beach. From there, it’s a boat tour back to Madeira Beach. The vehicle has a capacity of 34 persons, and you’ll learn some history of the barrier islands along the way.

This is one of the Madeira Beach attractions you don’t want to miss.

Turtle Time

Summer is nesting season for sea turtles on Florida’s beaches. The Florida Wildlife Commission reminds you to help keep turtles safe by keeping your distance.

However, if you would like the opportunity to learn more about Florida’s sea turtles and have the chance to view them, visit the Mote Marine Laboratory & Aquarium in Sarasota. They offer programs to educate the public about the importance of sea turtles.

And, if you’re lucky, you may be able to join one of the laboratory’s scientists on their trips to check the nests. Contact the aquarium for more information about their public turtle program.

The Suncoast Ladies’ Classic

This summer Clearwater, Florida, is hosting the first annual Suncoast Ladies’ Classic fishing tournament. The fun starts on Thursday, July 21st, at 6 pm and runs through the weekend. Top anglers will compete in multiple offshore fishing categories.

The tournament is headquartered at the Marina Cantina in Clearwater, just a short drive from Madiera Beach. Even if you’re not an angler, you’ll love the lively atmosphere. Be there at 3 pm on Saturday when the scales open and the biggest fish are weighed in.
