John’s Pass Village and Boardwalk

John’s Pass Village is a fishing village that has become a shopping destination. It was a turn-of-the-century fishing village that got its name when a hurricane created the pass in 1848. The first person through the pass was a pirate named John Levique. The village features over 100 shops, restaurants, and a fishing fleet.

Pirate Ship At John’s Pass

The Royal Conquest provides a 90-minute pirate adventure with dolphin watching, music, a dance party, water gun battles, pirate stories, a treasure hunt, snacks, and beverages. The two-story 46-foot ship holds 46 passengers and has been US Coast Guard (USCG) certified. The friendly crew of pirates always remain in character. Your children can also get in character with pirate hats, eye patches, and swords. It is open daily from 10 am to 6 pm.

Alligator Attraction-Wildlife Discovery Center

The Alligator Attraction-Wildlife Discovery Center is both a rescue center and an educational center. They accept surrendered pets and orphaned wildlife such as alligators, lizards, snakes, sloths, fish, rabbits, pigs, guinea pigs, and skunks. In addition, it educates the public on caring for wildlife throughout the world. It is open Monday through Saturday from 11 am to 7 pm.

Eagle Parasail

Eagle Parasail offers state-of-the-art boats that will have you hundreds of feet in the air and provide a soft landing for anyone from five, the minimum age, to 95. Of course, you can choose a little dip in the water when you land. You can parasail alone or with one or two other people as long as the total weight is under 600 pounds. Depending on the number of guests, a cruise can last from 30 minutes to one hour. Eagle Parasail has 26 years of watersport industry experience. With over 100,000 parasail flights, their safety record is perfect, and their equipment is upgraded constantly. Hours of operation are daily from 9 am to 5 pm.

Hubbard’s Marina

Hubbard’s Marina offers five and ten hour deep sea fishing cruises, a 90-minute dolphin watching and nature eco tour, and kayak and paddleboat rentals. Deep sea fishing provides the opportunity to catch mackerel, black seabass, grey snapper, mangrove snapper, red grouper, camp grouper, gag grouper, mahi, kingfish, hogfish, and porgies. The dolphin watching tours cruise the back bay waters where you could see dolphins, manatees, sea turtles, an occasional bald eagle, herons, pelicans, egrets, osprey, and cormorants. Bring your camera and binoculars. Hubbard Marina is USCG certified and offers a snack bar on some tours. It is open daily from 6 am to 8 pm.

Foot De Soto Park

Fort De Soto Park is south of Madeira Beach. You can rent a kayak and explore the park’s mangroves to view the wildlife. Then, tour the fort followed by spending time at the two piers and the two beaches. Fishing is allowed at the pier.

Busch Gardens

Nearby, in Tampa, is Busch Gardens. It has all the rides and attractions that you expect of an amusement park as well as an animal conservation area with over 2,000 animals. View lions, tigers, cheetahs, zebras, hyenas, giraffes, elephants, and rhinos in the Serengeti Plain exhibit.
